GM Building was formed in 2022 by Mike Plimmer and Grant Masters, combining decades of experience in architectural build and bespoke renovations.
Mike previously operated Plimmer Building Contractors for over 20 years in Wanaka, earning a trusted reputation for quality workmanship and thoughtful delivery. In 2022, together with Grant, his long-time project manager and friend, they established GM Building Wanaka Ltd to continue delivering high-quality, bespoke homes with the same care and attention to detail

Meet the founders
Mike hit the ground running after moving to Wanaka nearly three decades ago, establishing the highly regarded Plimmer Building. Over the years, he built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, reliability, and an easygoing approach that clients quickly came to trust. Mike is deeply passionate about craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and creating homes that truly reflect the people who live in them.
Grant brings decades of hands-on building experience, along with a calm, solutions-focused mindset that helps guide clients through the building process with confidence. Known for his practical approach and steady leadership on site, Grant is committed to ensuring each project runs smoothly while maintaining the high standards the team is known for.
Together, Mike and Grant offer more than 40 years of combined experience and a shared philosophy that nothing is too hard. Their willingness to go the extra mile, generous nature, and genuine care for both clients and projects have shaped the culture of GM Building — a team built on trust, collaboration, and a commitment to doing things well.
